Kids
Tonight my son ran off and got lost in SAMs. Luckily, his sisters had taken a safety class several years ago and it must have rubbed off on him because he knew exactly what to do...go to the front and find a lady in a vest. It was only a few seconds before I was paged by name. It was a long few seconds, but he did good. My friend taught the safety class at our old homeschool co op in Texas. It was the one of the best decisions I made to make the girls take that class. If you have never talked with your little ones about what to do if you get separated, you should. One thing the safety class taught my kids that I hadn't thought about before is that they should try first to go to a lady in uniform at the store because they are more likely to get a mom or someone with mom like instincts. Besides, no offense, but is just safer. He is only 4, but he knew what to do. His daddy said the only reason he didn't get into trouble was because he kept a level head and did the right thing even though by the time I got to him, he was crying and shaking.

Poor Buddy and You! I do not know if I have ever taught mine what to do...lesson learned.
ReplyDeleteScary! But so glad he knew what to do.
ReplyDeleteProbably a great lesson for him! I got lost once at the state fair. I was TERRIFIED. Libby got "lost" in a mall in Puerto Rico - she wasn't really lost because she was with my friend but I didn't know she had left the store with my friend - I don't think I've ever screamed that loud before - they heard me at the other end of the mall hallway!
ReplyDeleteGlad it turned out well!

Poor Prince Charming. Maybe this will teach him not to run off again.
ReplyDeletePoor buddy. Glad he knew what to do. I'm sure it was scary for all of you, but great lesson learned.
