Nana eating Moose Tacos for dinner (THANKS Melissa!! We all really enjoyed them).
Nana with the snow crew.
Nana has been trapped in the house for two days with the crew. It was -35 all day yesterday, then when we woke up this morning, it was -49! It warmed back up to a toasty -36 this afternoon. I got the crew all bundled, and let them have a 10 minute outside break...since all were going a bit loco. It took longer to get every one in gear than the time they spent outside, but worth it, even if just for the picture ;-)
Even Hubs said, "I'm proud of your mom. She is a trooper about this."
Nana even has learned how to load and use the wood stove.
She does giggle every time we have to put boots and coats on the dumb dogs though. Those poor Texan puppies don't like to get cold toes.
Our Nana is learning the Alaskan way...wonder if we can keep her here...
Nope, I bet Poppy wants her home soon. Oh well. We will enjoy these two weeks as much as we can.
What a wonderful Gramma! I grew up in North Dakota, but -49 would be a bit much, even for me. Plus, moose tacos? You need to give out awards to people who survive the Alaskan visit. May the rest of your time be blessed.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about your Mom this morning and how traumatic her first trip to Alaska is with this extreme cold. O took the kids out for a few minutes this afternoon as well. I hope to get to meet your Mom if it warms up. We stayed home all day and we plan on staying home tomorrow from church, we NEVER all stay home so this will be weird? Oh, by the way, your Mom has moose breath!
ReplyDeleteYou put coats and BOOTS on the dogs? Have I missed that photo? ;)
ReplyDeleteKendra, I'm so proud of your mom enduring the cold for the warmth of fellowship with her beloved kids and grandkids! Thanks for sharing pictures! Give her my love and you all have a WONDERFUL visit together! Love, mcd
